helping hand

For this project, in a studio class at SCAD (Jewelry BFA), we were given complete freedom in our designs, with the only requirement being that the piece function as a brooch. I chose to create a playful yet practical “helper hand” brooch—an accessory designed to pinch and hold fabric together while adding a subtle sculptural element to the garment. The hand was wax-carved and sand-cast in sterling silver, paired with a brass bangle to emphasize contrast and craftsmanship. The result is a functional object with character, merging utility with a touch of surrealism.
